Meet Janelle and Jason! They are going to be my first official wedding of 2012 and their wedding just happens to be in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico :). I feel incredibly blessed to be traveling there to capture their big day as well as being able to photograph to of my favorite clients family portraits while there. The wedding is in April and it cannot come soon enough! I learned that Janelle and Jason enjoy camping, so we incorporated that in their engagement session. It's hard to believe these were taken in February in Minnesota! What strange (yet fantastic) weather we've had this winter! Here are a few from their session, enjoy!

Remember this gorgeous family?! They had maternity and newborn portraits done just over a year ago :)! The Dr Suess nursery that was to die for?! Yep, that was these guys! They came in and brought precious Madeline along for another maternity session! This session was done in my studio so I didn't get to see the nursery for baby #2 in person, but I saw some pictures and it is incredible! 101 Dalmatians and I think even Walt Disney himself would be impressed with John's take for his baby's nursery! Wow, we have had such a mild winter then the day I have people traveling from all across the state for mini sessions we have freezing rain! Some people still made it, others are being to rescheduled for another date, but all in all it was a great day. Here are a couple from one of my favorite families. Well I just finished up the goodie bags and baked the cookies for tomorrow! What's tomorrow?! Valentine's Day mini sessions :)! I am very excited to see over a dozen of my favorite little people and even meet a couple of new kiddos too! The kissing booth will be set up to take some adorable portraits of all of them dressed up for Valentine's Day. A holiday devoted to celebrating love and my little Ryleigh's birthday, who doesn't love Valentine's Day?! Wow, I cannot believe it has been that long since I've updated this blog! It's true what they say, time flies when you're having fun. The last half of 2011 was full of fun sessions! So full in fact things got a bit crazy at times. I am not one to make New Year's resolutions, but I do love to sit and set new goals and the beginning of each new year. This year my goal is to update this more regularly, at least once a week. And I have a lot of stuff to show you, old and new! To be honest I didn't think anyone read this anymore, but on a whim yesterday I logged in to do some updating (see the little facelift?!) and checked my stats. I was amazed at how many people still view this on a regular basis! Thank you all who still stop by to see if anything has been posted!

Enough about that, here is the very last newborn I photographed in 2011! Precious baby Jack was born several weeks before his due date and came into the studio at 3 weeks old. Still a tiny little peanut, around 6 pounds! More posts to come, enjoy!

Wow, I really need to get better about updating this blog! I am going to put a sneak peek of the beautiful Miss Livia! I have never seen a newborn with such beautiful curly hair, she was an absolute doll! I had such a great time meeting her family, her big brother was so well behaved for a two year old boy :).

And some announcements to make!

1.) As of September 1st, 2011 I will no longer be offering the Watch Me Grow and Baby Steps first year programs. But I will still be offering great benefits for those who have newborn sessions and return for another session in the first year! The second session will be discounted 50% and the third session will be complimentary! I love watching the babies grow throughout the first year and beyond, it is one of my favorite parts of my "job"!

2.) As of October 1st, 2011 I will be joining a new studio in Burnsville, MN! It is a much better fit than my current space in Minneapolis for a number of reasons. It's cleaner, easier to access, has a great natural light room for newborns, a room dedicated to just studio lighting, a private restroom, a family area, and so much more! All newborn sessions will now be offered in the Burnsville studio for the standard $75 session fee (in home sessions will be available for $150). Considering where most of my clients come from, it really is a central location. A bit further for some, a bit closer for others. But it is much closer to me so I'll be able to fit in another session every time I am there! Which means less of a wait for those of you trying to schedule sessions!

3.) Fall/winter/spring sessions! I am going to be limiting my availability even more in the coming months. I feel as though this amazingly busy summer has taken it's toll on my family. I feel incredibly blessed to be as busy as I have been, but I am going to be taking even fewer sessions in the months to come. I will do my best to fit you all in! Those of you that I cannot accommodate I will refer fellow photographers to.

And last but not least, MINI SESSIONS!!! I have no weekend availability left until November, so if you are in need of a weekend session I encourage you to take advantage of the mini sessions!

Mini Sessions - $225 - 45 minute session and 10 Digital Images or Gift Prints (8x10 and smaller). Great for holiday cards and gifts! $75 deposit is due to hold your spot.

Meet beautiful baby Brynn! She came a little earlier than anticipated, I think she really wanted to be here to see the fireworks :). So she was 15 days old by the time we had her newborn session and I was a bit nervous. But she was PERFECT throughout her session! Slept like a champ! At the very end we decided to try some on the baby bed and the first two times we laid her on it she would instantly cry. Congratulations to Lisa and John! They will be getting married next month and I am very honored to be photographing their wedding! They made the long trip from Iowa to come and have their engagement portraits taken last weekend. It had been raining all morning, stopped while we did their session (45 minutes) then down poured and hailed on my way back to my car! A couple of hours later the devastating tornado tore through north Minneapolis. It was a crazy day to say the least, but these two just radiated LOVE! They were so adorable together, it's obvious they are meant to be together forever. Here's a sneak peek, enjoy!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of heading out in the snow (yes, snow at the end of April!) to meet this adorable 10 day old and her mommy and daddy. She is the newest member of the Watch Me Grow program, so you will see her twice more in the next year :). I had such a good time, I was there for over four hours! Baby Brianna has the most precious nursery and was an amazing little model. I took so many pictures, I don't know how I will ever narrow them down. Happy birthday to Carter today!! One year ago I was anxiously awaiting a call from his mommy to find out all about him! I was able to photograph Colton yesterday for his "sitting up" session in the Watch Me Grow program. He's grown so much since his newborn session and is such a handsome lil' man now! He loves his mommy and daddy so much he wouldn't let them put him down during his session. They had to hang out in the hallway while Colton and I played and took pictures :o). Little Miss Amelia came all the way from Spring Valley, Wisconsin the day she turned one week old! She brought her big brother Collin along too :o)! She had the chubbiest most kissable cheeks, I was instantly in love! Amelia is like most girls, she already knows what she wants and quickly let us know that she was in charge of her session. I feel like I spend so much time planning my client's portrait sessions, but am sub par with my own children. I always fear they won't cooperate, so I stick close to home. I stick with simple and easy set ups because I am so busy planning everyone else's sessions. I even just pull random clothing from their closets rather than go searching for that special outfit. I decided part of my 2011 New Year's Resolution was to do at least one portrait session of each of my kids that truly incorporates what they are most passionate about, interested in, and that's just THEM! Mady was first. She will be 8 in April but has been begging me to cut her hair short for months. I told her after her official 8 year portraits she could cut it. I ordered a special outfit from Matilda Jane, and went to work purchasing items for her session. Mady is our free spirit. She loves horses, prays for world peace, makes sure we recycle, and will clean up parks we are visiting she is so disgusted by litter. She is everyone's friend, always first to help those with special needs, and just loves everything and everyone. The world would be a much better place if there were more people like Mady in it, I am sure of it. Mady's biggest passion is art! She loves to paint, draw, doodle, sketch, she even has been making dresses for her Liv dolls! It seems to be her outlet and almost every paper she brings home from school has a doodle or sketch on it ;o). She is a very gifted child and finishes her work earlier than most kids, so naturally she needs to doodle to keep herself occupied! She is also an almost 8 year old girl, filled with drama, doesn't like to make her bed, doesn't like to be woke up in the morning, and loves her brother dearly, but you know how you treat your brother when you are that age ;o)! We love her dearly and are very grateful to have been blessed with a daughter like her.

Here is 8 day old Miss Scarlett Genevieve! She was part of my casting call and I was so excited to try out some new props with her! I was in Scarlett's home for about 2.5 hours and I think she only slept about 4 minutes total! And not in one stretch either ;o)! I have to admit, I've never had a newborn that young stay awake that long. She was a wiggly one too, all of the poses are Scarlett originals ;o). There was no getting her to stay in any position no matter how much swaddling, feeding, and soothing we did. Needless to say, we still managed to walk away with some beautiful images of her. I have the best job on the planet! I got to spend a morning with two of my favorite little girls and they are just as sweet as they are adorable! I have been photographing this family since the youngest was just three months old and it has been such an honor to watch them both grow. Yes, I know I am a bit late for a New Year post! But I have been very blessed to stay busy during what most of us photographers consider "slow season" and haven't had much of a chance to post. That's my favorite part, watching these little babies grow into wonderful children! I really need to get better at updating this blog! I hope each and every one of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by your family and friends. We made our annual trip to Iowa where most of my family lives. One of the highlights of Thanksgiving is that my children go with my grandpa to cut down his Christmas tree! I was going to go with and take pictures, but it was very very cold so my husband went along instead. Things are in full swing for Christmas here! Don't forget the deadline for all orders expected by Christmas is Wednesday, December 1st! Any of you that have ordered cards, they were all placed no later than Friday and should be on their way very soon!

I had the honor of capturing this amazing backyard wedding in Charles City, Iowa this summer with my fabulous assistant Jodie. Jessica and Stuart were living out of state while participating in Campus Crusade for Christ, so I did not meet them until the day of their wedding! They were so warm and welcoming and made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. Everything took place at Jessica's parents' farm and they had so many wonderful little touches everywhere, they really put a lot of thought into personalizing their wedding and it truly reflected them as a couple. Jessica is the sweetest, most bubbly and kind hearted person and she was glowing the entire day! You could see Stuart's love for Jessica every time he would look at her, it was such a great feeling to watch them together! They also shared their very first kiss together ever on their wedding day!!! They promised each other on their first date they would wait until their wedding day to kiss, and they did! That is so admirable and I was honored to have witnessed it (and captured it for them to remember forever). Congratulations Stuart and Jessica, I wish you an eternity of love and happiness!

Meet lil' Mr. Merik! He was such an adorable little boy!! He weighed 9lbs 11oz at birth, so he had the most loveable and kissable cheeks! He stayed awake for a couple of hours despite all of my tricks and several feedings, but was perfectly content the entire time! He finally dozed off just long enough for me to capture some precious sleeping portraits! Here's a sneak peek, enjoy!

Oh my! Look at this poor neglected blog! A lot has been going on since my last post! I had the opportunity to head to Los Angeles for some fun photo shoots (pictures to come soon), I ended up terribly sick and in the hospital (which I'm still trying to catch up from), I've photographed some precious newborns, adorable children, and amazing weddings, all this while trying to enjoy the end of summer, caring for my children, and getting them ready for school! It's been a bit chaotic to say the least. I am working very hard to get caught up so there should be several posts her in the coming weeks. We do leave for family vacation this month and I will be unavailable September 20-30 so please keep that in mind!

There really must be something in the water! I have photographed more gorgeous baby bellies this year already than all of my other years as a photographer combined! It is so much fun to capture this precious stage that is a distant memory all too quickly. I usually get to photograph the newborn and the majority of the time photograph the baby throughout the first year and it is one of my favorite parts of my "job"! I get to see these mommas several times in a year, get to watch their little ones grow, and usually develop a great bond and friendship with them. This momma to be is having a little girl! Soon you will get to see newborn photos and she is enrolling in the Watch Me Grow program so you'll get to see her little girl grow up too :). This has to be one of the smallest bellies I've had this late in a pregnancy. It's really not fair how great she looks with only a few weeks to go! Here are a few of my favorites, enjoy!

I have been blessed with some amazing families to photograph! They have been patient (this session was rescheduled twice because of rain!), they come dressed perfectly (aren't their outfits adorable?!), and they radiate love for their child(ren) (you really can't help but smile when looking at these portraits)! I am posting a very big sneak peek from this session. This was from last night and it was HOT outside to say the least! I was not the one in charge of this session, three year old Miss A was :). She had me cracking up! But Miss A like most three year olds was busy with a capital B!! She had me running after her the entire time. The session only lasted about 30 minutes, which is pretty short! And I think mom and dad are worried we didn't get many good shots. So, this is to show all of you who leave a session wondering if we got anything good, don't worry!!! All of the crazy stories, farting noises, games I play, it's all so we can get images like these even when they seem impossible :). I had such a fun time with this family! There was rain in the forecast and we felt rain drops off an on throughout the entire session. I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend surrounded by family and friends! I was bedridden with a nasty case of strep throat most of the weekend. It was heartbreaking not to be able to go out of town to see family and to have my own children running around squealing with laughter and hearing them out the window rather than joining in on the fun. I'm feeling much better now and working very hard to get caught up on everything! A special thank you to all of you who were supposed to have sessions and rescheduled so I could rest and recuperate! Here is a belated sneak peek of a cute family I had the honor of photographing recently! We spent the entire session holding our breath that it wouldn't rain and we got lucky!

Ok, it's official! I think I am blessed with the most gorgeous pregnant women to photograph! And that leads to photographing the most gorgeous newborns, so I am a very blessed person :). Angie was no exception! She was my first maternity session in my new studio and she definitely made my job easy. I generally do maternity sessions in home, but after doing hers, I think I may change that ;). Doesn't she look amazing?! She'd look amazing even if she wasn't 35 weeks pregnant! Her and her husband chose to be surprised with their babies gender, which is something that sounds SO fun to me, but something I definitely don't have the patience for. Today I got to snuggle with sweet baby Jack! He was so precious!! I spent about three hours at his home and he only slept about fifteen minutes the entire time. Little Miss Isla had her one year session! I have seen her four times since she was born and she always makes me smile :). She reminds me a lot of my Mady when she was a baby! Isla turning one is so bittersweet for me! I won't get to see her quite as often anymore, but it has been such an honor and blessing to see her grow this past year. I just realized it's my 200th post on here!! I know I don't update it nearly enough and a lot of you have given me grief for it ;). I promise I am trying to update it more regularly, but I have been so busy it's getting harder and harder! I have had an amazing number of maternity and newborn sessions lately, and a lot more in the near future! I feel very blessed to have the privilege of capturing such precious and fleeting moments for my clients! There is no greater honor than to preserve these moments in time for eternity!

I recently photographed this darling 13 day old little girl! Her name is Brynn and I promise you she is real. I think she looks like a porcelain doll! Her big sister Paige was such a big help during her session! It was such a delight to spend a couple of hours with this family. Meet baby Carter! The sweetest little peanut I had the opportunity to spend last Saturday with! He did a great job letting me do all kinds of crazy things with him ;). I ended up taking so many pictures I have barely scratched the surface, but I thought I would share a couple right away!

Well, the lease is signed! I will be joining a group of girls in an amazing studio space in downtown Minneapolis April 1st! We need to get in an clean and paint and "pretty" it up and then I will post some images! I am so excited to be able to offer a different style of images to all of my clients!

This also means session fees will be changing. Beginning May 1 all in studio and outdoor sessions will be $45 and all in home and weekend sessions will be $75. If you already have an in home session scheduled for after May 1 and your deposit paid then you will still be charged the original $45.

The space is in a building with great hallways, exposed brick walls, graffiti walls and so many colors and textures! I will also be offering more "studio" style boutique images! It is going to be a great adventure and 2010 is off to such a great start.

Here's Madden at eight months old! I told his mommy at his three month session to call me back when he was sitting but not yet crawling. Well guess what?! He decided to crawl before sit! So as you can imagine his sessions was quite the challenge with him crawling all over the place! I ended up with so many cute ones I couldn't pick what to post so here are just a few that make me smile :). Madden is in the Cayman Islands with his mommy, daddy and grandma on vacation right now! Meet Jackson! One of three newborns I photographed last week all born on February 10th! He was such a sweet little boy. He slept the entire two hours I was there for his session and didn't fuss once! His mommy told me he had a restless night the night before, so maybe that was the trick to get him sleeping so soundly for me ;o). Here are a few from his session! Remember little Leon?! The adorable little baby in the peapod from about six months ago!

Well, I had the honor of seeing him again and capturing his six month portraits! He was so well behaved the entire session and was a bigger flirt than any man I've ever met ;o). He was a champ through four different outfit/background changes he didn't complain once! Here is a little sneak peek for his mommy and daddy!

Happy New Year to all of you! I hope 2010 finds you happy and healthy and ready to embrace the opportunities that will come your way this year. Here in Minnesota we have rung in the new year with some very cold and snowy days. I thought a post with some sunshine would help to cheer us all up :). This is one of my favorite families! I was blessed to be able to fly out to Clearwater, Florida and capture some family portraits on the beach for them. They now have an amazing wall collage full of gallery wrapped canvases and a metallic wrap that I am hoping to get pictures of very soon and show all of you! But for now here are just a couple of my favorites from their session!

I had the opportunity to travel all the way to New Richmond, WI to photograph this precious little guy! At just five days old Ezra had the most kissable cheeks I have ever seen on a newborn! He didn't spend much time sleeping, but when he did we were able to capture these precious images.

Here are a few of sweet baby Maren. She was quite possibly the quickest newborn session I've ever had! Her mommy warned me she always wanted to eat and wouldn't sleep very long and she started out awful squirmy. But after a little while of a nice warm place to lay and lullabies she was in that deep baby sleep adults envy ;). Congratulations Brian, Kelly, and Allison on your new addition!!
